Canon knows this and make its entry level zoom lenses with that principle in mind. Attaching the RF 24-105 STM to your canera won't allow you to turn off distortion correction, because at 24mm it doesn't cover the whole sensor. Heck, even the RF 14-35mm f/2.8L also doesn't cover the sensor at 14mm. flyingron • 4 mo. ago.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/4.0L IS Lens. This new lens design was released near the very end of 2012. It reportedly provides excellent image quality in roughly the same general category as the other current 24-70 and the 24-105.
Do I buy the EF 24-70 f/2.8 and use it on both bodies, or do I buy an EF-S 17-55 2.8 (Sigma 18-35 f/1.8) and the RF 24-105 f/4? I use the 70-200 (with EF to RF adapter) on my main body and a short lens for my second body when shooting sports.

1. I am very surprised that no one told you there is no place for a tripod ring on the lens. With the control ring, focus ring, zoom ring along with the 5 switches there is NO room for a tripod mount. While the RF 70-200 f4 is 12mm longer it is also 5 grams less weight then the RF 24-105 f4.

The EF 17-40 f/4L USM and the EF 24-70 f/2.8L USM are the two lenses that are most often considered along with the 24-105L when making a lens purchase. The 17-40 is not stabilized, but it is the same speed and goes much wider, and is much less expensive. If you want a landscape lens, this one may be a better choice. So it turns out you can get a used 24-105 F/4L IS USM lens for about $320-400. Is it worth it at that price? My current main lens is the EF-S 18-135 F/3.5-5.6 IS nanoUSM. Shooting on a Canon 7dMk2 (though I'd like to upgrade to a C100 mkii at some point).

A used EF 24-105 f/4 costs about the same as the rf 24-105mm f4-7.1. My gut feeling is to go for the EF, but what do you think? I was originally using the RF 24-105 kit for over a year before recently getting EF 24-105. I can say that I think the kit really does work well for a kit lens, and if you went that route you would still be pretty happy.
