The Canon EOS-60D is a solid offering in the midrange digital SLR space. With its very good photo quality (especially with a decent lens), rotating, super high resolution LCD, generally snappy performance, full set of manual controls, Full HD movie mode, and decent selection of bells and whistles, it definitely is a worthy successor to the EOS-50D.
A focal range of 35-100mm would be a good fit for the EF 24-105 f/4L. But, if you are hiking in dense woods, then that lens may be a little slow for a 60D. I would want a lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.8, or faster. But, faster standard zooms are above your budget goals.
May 30, 2011. #1. Hello, I have a Canon EOS 60D camera 2 months old and I'm using a EFS 17-85mm lens. I am using this camera mainly to shoot video, but now that I've had it for a couple of months and I'm importing the footage into my macbook pro, all the videos are extremely grainy/noisey. I've uploaded a quick video shot in decent lighting
The Canon EOS 60D is a cropped sensor (APS-C) camera. The image sensor in the 60D measures 22.3 by 14.9 mm. In contrast, a Canon full-frame sensor like the one in the EOS 6D is 35.8 by 23.9 mm, approximately the same as a 35mm film negative. While a full-frame sensor is physically bigger, that does not necessarily mean it contains more pixels.
