1 Answer. iPhone 8 Plus’s dual rear camera shares the work of taking pictures from near and far between 2 cameras. One camera will handle the close up shots while the other one handles anything that needs more zoom. If your camera works as soon as you zoom in to 2x it likely means that one of your cameras will need replacing.

Earlier, many 12 Pro phones would not focus close up. iOS 14.2 update fixed this for the 12 Pro's. So there is hope that Apple may release a update that will fix the 12PM's too. Or it could be that the 12PM camera hardware is inherently incapable of focusing as close as other iPhone models.

1st Method: Use Pinch Gesture. Zoom In: To zoom in on your iPhone, place two fingers, usually your thumb and forefinger, on the screen and spread them apart in a pinching motion. With this gesture, it will enlarge the content displayed on your screen. You can use this method in apps like Photos, Safari, Maps, etc.

Solution No.7: Lock the Auto Focus. There are many great features on the Camera app of the iPhone. One such feature is the Auto Focus and Auto Exposure lock (AE/AF Lock). This feature can help when your iPhone camera doesn't focus. You have to tap on the object you want to focus on for a few seconds until you see the small yellow "AE/AF Lock" box.
Lidar is used in focussing on the iPhone 13 Pro and I believe the 14 Pro. The result is that on certain moves the image can intermittently go way out of focus and stay that way for several seconds. This was confirmed on 3/24/23 by a tech at SmallRig. The problem is more pronounced on some video Apps than others.

Fix iPhone white screen: iPhone 7 / iPhone 7 Plus. For an iPhone 8 / iPhone 8 Plus / iPhone X white screen, the steps are much different: Press the Volume Up button and release it quickly. Do the same on the Volume Down button (press and release it quickly). Press and hold the Power button (on the side) until you see the Apple logo.
