The 16-55 was comparable to some of the Fuji f2 primes at certain focal lengths and the 24-70 is comparable for shits with detail - eg: bricks on buildings. Foliage is less problematic and general rendering in flat light seems to retain better detail, even compared to some of the Fuji primes.
For myself I appreciate having three lenses with the same 67mm filter size (Viltrox 13mm, Tamron 17-70 and Fuji 70-300mm). Similar to the 16-55, I'm hoping the Tamron can do some wide and tele astrophotography at 2.8 as well; the Lenstip review indicates its coma and astigmatism levels are (relatively) low. We'll see 🤔🙂

I think the underlying problem here is that Fuji have a number of very good lenses at prices where other manufactures would have more mediocre products. The 18-55 is a good example. Dull boring focal length - f2.8 compared with F1.4 or F2 primes - but actually pretty decent all things considered.
The XF 8-16mm is a premium, wide aperture, ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that completes Fuji’s trinity of fast aperture zoom lenses (along with the Fuji 16-55mm F2.8 and 50-140mm F2.8 lenses). At nearly $2000 USD in price, the XF 8-16mm isn’t for everyone, but it does offer an extremely competent option for wedding, portrait, and event At less than half the weight and cost of the Fujinon 16-55 f2.8 this Sigma 18-55mm is exactly what I am looking for in a standard travel lens. I look forward to it too, I’ll probably stick with my current Fujifilm 18-55 f2.8-f4 abit longer. Happy with the overall performance so far. 4. Image resolution. The resolution test of the Fujinon XF 16–55 mm f/2.8 R LM WR was based on RAW files from the Fujifilm X-E1. We developed the files using the dcraw program (with the 3-pass X-trans filter algorithm) and they were analyzed with the help of the Imatest package. Let’s remind here that the best fixed-focus lenses tested that 8nis.
